Ques. Is Ohio State University a good school for aerospace engineering?
● Top Answer By Cindy Greenfield on 13 Jan 21
Ans. Aerospace Engineering is a very specialized program not found in many universities around the world. The department of mechanical and aerospace engineering, Ohio State University offers BS, MS as well as PhD degree in aerospace engineering. While there are plenty of feats mentioned on OSU's website, you are better off visiting the university yourself and speak to recent passouts as well as the students presently studying there. This will help you understand more about their shortcomings which are conveniently hidden by their many excellent achievements. At the undergraduate level it offers various highly specialized electives such as turbomachinery, aeroelasticity, helicopter aerodynamics, propulsion, fluid mechanics etc. In addition to that, the school also offers an MS as well as PhD which can also be taken up after completing your BS directly subjected to a minimum of 80 graduate credit hours at BS level. There are professors who are top class in what they do, especially one from the Jet Propulsion Systems. So if the culture of the university fits you, then you will do great at the school. However, you should always look up to some current students or alumni to get some better insights. You may also consider going to the university directly and talk to students of the department.Read more
Ques. How is Ohio State University for a MS in computer engineering in terms of the quality of courses and placements?
● Top Answer By Angie Smith on 13 Jan 21
Ans. It is seriously top-notch. It used to rank about USA's top 25 Engineering Schools and is presently at #30- which means it might have slipped a bit lower but is still counted among the big names. OSU offers an MS in computer engineering in two forms; research track which requires a thesis completion as well as 30 credit hours and a coursework track which requires 33 credit hours without the need of a thesis. Research is a big part of the master's degree and with professors here conducting research in areas such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data etc. you are assured of a quality teaching. Also many times, the professors will also incorporate projects based on the theoretical implementations which is really beneficial for the students. Any college needs to be of excellent quality to maintain this position consistently. As far as placements are concerned, it will depend on the overall job market during the time of your course completion. Also how much you have accomplished and the knowledge you gained during the course play a huge role during placements. Rest assured, this is a STEM program from a very prestigious state university, so you are assured of at least entry level jobs with decent to good grades. Some of the biggest recruiters who have visited the campus include Facebook, Microsoft, Google etc.Read more
Ques. What is your review of The Ohio State University?
● Top Answer By Prashanta Mehta on 13 Jan 21
Ans. OSU's variety and wide university culture may be amazing for many but surely there are still many who have mixed feelings about their time spent there. There are many good things to say about their programs, faculty and all the resources and facilities readily available. However you may find their obsession with football and Greek-life inspired groups frustrating and tiring. However, Ohio State University is still a decent public university with campuses in Columbus, Ohio with regional campuses at Lima, Mansfield, Marion, Wooster and Newark. If you are a party loving person who loves alcohol parties and all other sorts of things that happen with it, you will totally enjoy the campus life. However if you want a quiet environment with a lot of focus on education, you may not enjoy the campus life to the fullest. It is ranked well and thus still a good choice even now– QS World University Rankings (2021) - #108 THE World University Rankings (2021) - #80 US News Best National Universities Ranking (2021) - #53 Now let's look at the various aspects of the university on which you should base your decision – Coursework – The best things about the university are its professors who are top notch. The course curriculum is also designed very well and the various facilities that are required for the coursework are excellent as well. This is good for the graduate programs. However the undergraduates and intro graduate programs have ineffective pedagogy. Teaching Experience – The faculty interaction will be limited because the labs and lecture halls are huge along with a large number of students. You will be taught by Teacher Assistants (TA) and even professors who will just read out the notes and you will find the lectures difficult to comprehend. You will read for exams and then quickly forget them as you move on. Campus or University culture – Sports is a big part of the campus culture, especially its football team. Thus there can be frequent inconveniences, especially during weekend matches when you may have your cars being towed away from the parking lot to accommodate alums' vehicles. So finally to conclude, the teaching experience may be somewhat similar at other universities as well. However, if you want to have a rich education and you are not a huge fan of the party culture, you may very well stay away from the school and apply for some other liberal arts colleges.Read more
Ques. How is Ohio State University for doing a master's in computer science?
● Top Answer By Shivani Khatri on 13 Jan 21
Ans. OSU's Computer Science department has one of the highest qualified professors in the country, so it all boils down on what you make of this program. It is well ranked and presently at #30 among US's top CS schools. You'll get access to many fields like Networks, Big Data, NLP and no shortage of research opportunities. You'll also have no problem finding internships or jobs. You'll even have over one offer if you're good. OSU is a great university to pursue master's in computer science from. It is one of the 14 departments in the college of engineering offering master's and doctoral degrees. Here are some quick stats: QS World University Rankings by subject 2020 : Computer Science and Information Systems #151 – 200 THE World University Rankings by subject 2020 : Computer Science #101 – 125 US News Best Computer Science Schools in the USA #30 Tuition and Fees (per year) Ohio Residents – $16,525 (INR 12,22,850) Non-Ohio Residents – $39,999 (INR 29,59,926) The best thing about this program is that it provides the students to either go for a coursework degree or go for a research heavy thesis. The professors at the university have done some of the best research in the fields related to computer science, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), High Performance Computing (HPC), Big Data, Networks etc. Thus they include the graduates in their groups which is a great learning experience for the students. In addition they also may also include some practical projects relating to implementation of the topics researched. Thus the research perspectives of the students are widened while doing the MS which help them in placements. Top recruiters such as Cisco, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Facebook do hire from the campus. So overall it is a decent school to pursue master's in computer science with a lot of focus on research which makes the school good enough for most graduates.Read more
Ques. What are the strongest majors in terms of job prospects and what are the weakest majors at The Ohio State University?
● Top Answer By Ginny Hallewell on 13 Jan 21
Ans. Your job prospects or sales prospects have nothing to do where you went to study. There's a common perception that Arts are among the weakest majors- however OSU definitely provides a certain 'brand name recognition' which applies to most of its programs. The Ohio State University is a research oriented university offering 263 different programs in Bachelor's, Master's, Doctoral as well as certificates to the students. It has 21 different schools for students to choose from according to their future prospects and interests. The strongest majors in terms of job prospects will arguably be from the school of science and engineering. Among the engineering programs, Welding Engineering is the least known (also one of a kind) program. Yet, the graduates are very much sought after by recruiters. Apart from that the school of medicine has a cancer research facility which is also excellent. The school of veterinary and the school of nursing also offer the best job prospects after graduating from the university. There have also been instances where the hospitals have agreed to pay the loans for the students, from which you can gauge the demand for nurses. As for the weakest majors, Art, History, French and Italian are among the courses which do not attract many jobs after graduation. In no way this suggests that these courses are bad. The industry of these courses, especially fine arts, works more as "sales" rather than "job". Thus most bachelor degree holders in fine arts actually work in fields which are not even remotely connected to arts. Also brand recognition of the university is not as high as that of Yale University or Columbia University which hinders the chances of Master's students while applying for teaching positions.Read more

" Ohio State University - Bigger dreams for the world. "
I was looking for colleges to do my masters in architecture from abroad after completing my bachelors from India which is when I stumbled upon the Ohio State University. I had excellent 10th, 12th and graduation scores and so I applied to other colleges but they were in India so I was really hoping to get into Ohio. The application fee was $95 for international applicants .
Scholarship :
I did not happen to have any scholarships for my masters . I did get a paid internship in my second year of college that helped me get through and also provided me with practical consistency for the on field experience.

" Ph.D Life as a student of FISHER COLLEGE OF BUSINESS "
Being a student of business and entrepreneurship, I always wanted to do research on my subject because of my love for it. I had scored pretty well in high school. I scored 93% and then got admitted to a reputed college for business studies in the year 2016. After completing my graduation with a DGPA of 9.2 out of 10, I started exploring various ways including a start-up which unfortunately did not work out. Then I decided to go for a Ph.D. Study, and wrote a thesis paper which was liked by one of my professors. Thus I ended up being a student of a Ph.D. in this college. The application fee that I paid for the online admission process was $70.

Ultimately I opted for an MBA in this college as I applied here through Common Application and that costed me $60.

I have completed my bachelor's degree in electronics engineering from India and it had always been my ambition to pursue higher education after my graduation. I was especially interested in conducting research with new technologies so a Ph.D. degree seemed to be the way to go. I had applied to four universities in total and was glad to get accepted at Ohio State University. Applying directly through the official website made the process very easy for me.
