Diet Pepsi vs Pepsi Max
Carbonated drinks, or more colloquially known as soft drinks, have been a staple thirst quench buster for all ages for more than a century now. Among the famous soft drink makers in the market is Pepsi (sometimes branded as Pepsi-Cola). With its distinct taste, as evidenced by its growing carbonated soft drink list, it surely is a household name no one should be exempted of recognizing.
Two of the most-favored products of Pepsi are Diet Pepsi and Pepsi Max. What's so distinct between the two of them?
Introduced in 1993, Pepsi Max was flagged as an alternative to Pepsi and Diet Pepsi products. It is a low-calorie, sugar-free cola. It first debuted in Europe, then towards the USA, Australia, and Asia.
Pepsi Max has three main variants, namely:
Pepsi Max Twist, which contains lime. It is available in the United Kingdom (UK) and Australia.
Pepsi Max Punch, which contains ginger and cinnamon. It was used during the festive season also in the UK.
Pepsi Mac Cappuccino, which is a coffee-flavored type. It is introduced in France, Finland, Ireland, Norway, and the UK.
Other varieties include: Citron Citron Vert, Cease Fire, Cool Lemon, Chill and Mojo.
Pepsi Max contains aspartame, potassium benzoate, acesulfame potassium, calcium disodium EDTA, and panax ginseng extract which is not present in Diet Pepsi. Also, it has a higher caffeine content at 43mg for a 7.5 fl.oz bottle/can compared to other Pepsi variants. Aspartame, which is an artificial sweetener, is also present in Pepsi Max at 77mg.
Meanwhile, Diet Pepsi is an older variant introduced in 1964 in the United States. It is branded as a "zero calorie, zero carbohydrates" cola. Its variants include: Diet Pepsi Lime Twist, Diet Pepsi Lemon Twist, Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi.
Compared to Pepsi Max, a 7.5 fl.oz bottle/can of Diet Pepsi contains a lower amount of caffeine at 22mg. Meanwhile, its aspartame content is at 111mg.
